Aoife

Aoife (pronounced ee-fa), serves as the practice midwife at Southern Nest. Her journey with Southern Nest began in 2021, and every moment since has been a source of joy for her.

Originally hailing from Co Clare, Ireland, Aoife made her way to Sydney in 2018. Initially, she had planned for a one-year working holiday visa, but life had different plans, and she has remained ever since.

In 2017, Aoife completed her BSc Midwifery from the University of Limerick. Her career took off at the bustling University Maternity Hospital Limerick in Ireland, where she worked in both the labor ward and postnatal ward. The dynamic nature of the job and the invaluable mentorship from experienced midwives left an indelible mark on her.

However, the wanderlust bug bit, and she decided to embark on an adventure to Sydney, curious about life 'Down Under.' Since arriving in Australia, she has primarily worked at Hurstville Private Hospital, specializing in the delivery suite and occasionally lending her expertise to the postnatal ward. In 2018, she was presented with a wonderful opportunity to join Southern Nest as a practice midwife.

Aoife's role at Southern Nest holds a special place in her heart. Being an integral part of the journey to parenthood for patients is an honor she cherishes deeply. Building strong relationships with parents throughout their entire pregnancy is something she finds incredibly rewarding. She prides herself on being approachable and available to address any questions or concerns patients may have.

Outside of work, Aoife is a firm believer in the importance of spending quality time with loved ones. She has an insatiable passion for travel and is always planning her next adventure. Her family, spread across Ireland and Switzerland, holds a special place in her heart, and she makes it a point to visit whenever possible. At the same time, she has embraced the Sydney lifestyle, with a love for the beach and a growing circle of friends and family in Australia.

To Aoife, Southern Nest feels like a second family, and she genuinely believes that all patients who walk through their doors become part of this extended family. She eagerly anticipates the opportunity to care for, get to know, and guide every patient through the remarkable journey to parenthood.
